Senate GLASS Caucus Statement on the Insurrection at the U.S. Capitol

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Senate GLASS Caucus released the following statement on the Insurrection at the U.S. Capitol:

“The Senate GLASS Caucus stands with the Members of Congress, staff, and U.S. Capitol Police officers who are grappling with the sadness and trauma of yesterday’s insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. This was far from a constitutionally protected peaceful protest, and we support all efforts to bring the domestic terrorists responsible to justice.

While the Capitol is an international symbol of democracy and freedom, it is also the workplace of thousands of public servants. GLASS urges the Senate and House to conduct a full investigation into the security shortfalls that allowed a seditious mob to disrupt the peaceful transfer of power and threaten the safety of those working throughout the Capitol complex. Such actions must never be allowed to happen again, both for the good of our democracy and for the wellbeing of those employed on Capitol Hill.”

GLASS Caucus is the official LGBTQ staff association of the United States Senate.
